The draft law on State Tax Service has been published for public consultation

The State Tax Service (STS) is to be vested with rights and duties of agent ascertaining the economic-financial crimes and crimes involving directly the execution of tax liabilities to the budget, according to the draft law on State Tax Service published for public consultation by the Ministry of Finance.

Officials from the Ministry of Finance believe that the new tasks of STS will ensure the continuity in the actions of examination and finding of tax evasion cases, which are grounds for initiating criminal proceedings.

Also, the mentioned draft law provides the reforming of the State Tax Service and  the Territorial State Tax Inspectorates and the creation of a unified tax administration body - the State Tax Service, with legal entity status.

The authors of the draft law believe that these changes will help to improve the efficiency of the State Tax Service and will ensure the univocal treatment of the taxpayers and the tax legislation.

The draft law on State Tax Service also stipulates the elaboration and approval of the structure and staff limit. In particular, it is proposed that the Government sets only the upper limit of the State Tax Service and the powers of approval and modification of the structure to be in the competence of the State Tax Service Director.
